Prague in a weekend

Fairytale on a budget — still the cheapest Gothic city break in Europe

Prague went commercial but the core is still one of Europe's most beautiful skylines. Two nights is enough — Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, one castle morning, and a lot of pilsner. Stay in Vinohrady or Žižkov, not Old Town Square (louder, pricier).

The plan

  1. 1
    Friday evening

Fly in, drop bags in Vinohrady. Beer + pork knuckle at Lokal Dlouhááá. Old Town Square by night is the best time to see it.

  2. 2
    Saturday morning

Prague Castle at 09:00 (pre-booked). Cross Charles Bridge on the way back — early = zero crowds.

  3. 3
    Saturday afternoon

Kampa Island walk, John Lennon Wall, lunch at Cafe Savoy.

  4. 4
    Saturday night

Traditional dinner at U Modré Kachničky. Cocktails at Hemingway Bar.

  5. 5
    Sunday morning

Jewish Quarter (Josefov) — book combined ticket. Then farmers market at Náplavka riverside.

Book before you fly

Prague Castle circuit ticket + Jewish Quarter combined pass, both online. Cheap Christmas market flights sell out by August.

The honest downside

'Exchange offices' near Charles Bridge give terrible rates — use ATMs from a bank, or pay by card. Taxi meters are often 'broken' — Bolt or Liftago app only.
