Passport validity
Valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen area.
Entry stamp process
Schengen entry stamp. EES (Entry/Exit System) fingerprints being rolled out — expect longer queues in 2026.
Entry checklist
- Passport with 3+ months validity beyond exit date.
- Proof of accommodation + return ticket (rarely checked at Schengen borders).
- Travel insurance recommended (mandatory for some Schengen visa applicants).
- From 2026: ETIAS pre-registration for visa-exempt nationals (US, UK, CA, AU) — €7, 3-year validity.
Currency
Euro (EUR). Cards widely accepted; carry €50–100 cash for small trattorie.
Timezone
CET / CEST (UTC+1/+2). DST last Sunday of March–October.
