Permits & booking

Permits (~USD 70) MUST be booked via licensed operator — release October for the following year, book by Jan for peak season. Passport number required.

Honest fitness prerequisite

Comfortable walking 6 hours with day-pack (porters carry your kit). 2 months of hill training prior.

Book these before you fly

Trekking insurance MUST cover the max altitude of your route — most standard policies cap at 3,000 m. Airalo eSIM for offline maps and check-ins from the trail.

The honest downside

Cusco altitude (3,400 m) — arrive 2–3 days early to acclimatise. Coca tea helps. Bring your ORIGINAL passport, not a copy.
